Wild Hearts, from Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force, is stepping into the breach to challenge Monster Hunter as the premier venue to... well, hunt monsters! This action RPG has you leverage ancient tech to do battle with massive, powerful monsters (aka Kemono) against the backdrop of an epic open landscape. Combat is weighty, flashy stuff that has you chaining together spectacular combos against the giant beasts you come across. There's a twist, though - it borrows the idea of constructing defences and weaponry on the fly from Fortnite. It's an intuitive system that allows you to throw up all sorts of features that will essentially transform the battlefield to your liking. Away from the fights, the onboarding process is a little easier-going than some of Wild Hearts' competitors. You establish camps yourself, meaning you're not immediately thrust into busy, sometimes overwhelming hubs. You'll build around Dragon Lodestones, that double up as a sort of upgradeable pool of resources and fast travel tool. You can build out your camp this way, as well as craft things out of the resources you'll harvest from fallen beasts. You can even bring in friends for seamless co-op, because taking down epic monsters is always more fun with a pal.
